FIRST AID and CPR CLASSES
Scuba diving classes, lessons, and Information for the San Francisco Bay Area diver

First Aid is the treatment given in a medical emergency before full medical care can be obtained. Even with 30 years of First Responder Training with the San Francisco Fire Department, I was not able to save the 29" Lingcod in the above picture. He made a glutton of himself and tried to swallow a 12" Rockfish, who in his own defense lodged his body in the Lingcods' gills. Even a properly done Heimlick Maneuver would not have saved Mr. Ling.

The First Aid & CPR Courses offered at MITCHELL SCUBA adhere to the standards of NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors). Certification in First Aid & CPR by a recognized agency is required for the following Scuba diving certifications:
*****Scuba Rescue Diver
*****Advanced Scuba Rescue Diver
*****Training Assistant
*****Assistant Instructor
*****Divemaster
*****Instructor

As your First Aid & CPR Instructor, I bring to the course real life scenarios not normally found in a standard course. As a captain with the SFFD (Ret.), I have over 30 years experience responding to Medical Emergencies, both aquatic and "man in the street". These will be presented in an easy to absorb fashion to prepare you for virtually any First Aid or CPR Emergency that you will encounter as a recreational diver. The keystone of all presentations is PREVENTION. As a diver you will be challenged to develop global awareness and prevent medical emergencies and diving accidents before they happen.

The NAUI First Aid & CPR Course is given concurrently with our Scuba Rescue Diver course. The two courses compliment each other and prepare you to have an appropriate First Aid response in most medical emergencies - including diving medical emergencies.

I also offer First Aid & CPR Instructor Certification for the Assistant Instructor or Divemaster who enrolls in our NAUI Instructor Training Course (ITC). At the successful completion of your NAUI ITC you will be certified as a First Aid & CPR Instructor.
