There are no marketing tricks here. At Mitchell Scuba we offer a straightforward approach to diving education. The curriculum and skills are designed specifically to train candidates to teach people to Scuba dive. As a NAUI Instructor Training Candidate you will learn: instructional techniques, effective communication skills, and how to construct effective lesson plans. A Course Outline (syllabus) will be given to all candidates prior to the start of this ITC. This syllabus is a detailed day-by-day breakdown of the
activities and studies during your Nine day ITC.
Demonstrations by the staff are numerous and ongoing during your ITC. Candidates are afforded ample time to practice their teaching techniques. The NAUI format of instruction is a very effective teaching tool. During the classroom sessions of your ITC, you will learn the NAUI format so you can instruct your future Scuba students in areas of diving physics, decompression and dive tables, equipment, environment, physiology, and medical aspects of diving.
Throughout the nine days of your ITC there will be both informal and formal discussions about your progress and individual performance, allowing you many opportunities for personal advancement and success. At the successful completion of your Instructor Course, or Crossover Course, you will be certified not only as a NAUI Instructor, but also as a NAUI/ASHI First Aid and CPR Instructor. You will be able to conduct NAUI Leadership courses for Assistant Instructor and Divemaster and certify at that level.
Candidates must be 18 years of age and have at least 100 logged dives. Previous certification as an Assistant Instructor or Divemaster by any recognized Scuba training agency is required.
