NAUI SCUBA RESCUE DIVER COURSES
Scuba diving classes, lessons, and Information for the San Francisco Bay Area diver

The NAUI Scuba Rescue Diver Course is designed with the recreational diver in mind. This course consists of a minimum of three dives and a number of rescue scenarios which may be encountered while diving. Scuba certification is required prior to taking this course, as is an up to date First Aid and CPR certification by the end of the course. A NAUI First Aid and CPR course is an integral part of this Scuba Rescue Course. If you are not currently certified in First Aid and CPR, this course will satisfy that requirement (additional $35 fee).

The NAUI Advanced Scuba Rescue Diver Course is designed with the needs of the diving leader in mind. This course consists of five dives with many varied rescue scenarios presented. Scuba certification is required before taking this course, as is an up to date certification in First Aid and CPR by the end of the course. A NAUI First Aid and CPR course is an integral part of this Scuba Rescue Course. If you are not currently certified in First Aid and CPR, this course will satisfy that requirement (additional $35 fee). It is also required to have current certification as an Oxygen Provider, such as a "Divers Alert Network" Oxygen Provider course. The DAN Oxygen Provider Course is available upon request before the beginning of the Advanced Scuba Rescue Course.

As with all Scuba courses at Mitchell Scuba, prevention of diving accidents is stressed. Much of the academic portion of these courses is done by home study using the "Scuba Rescue Diver Student Education System". This kit includes:
- textbook
- workbook
- home study video
- NAUI pen and pencil
- NAUI decals
- CPR "quick pack" which has a face shield, gloves, and an instruction card.

Your home study efforts are combined with class discussions and pool exercises which allow you to practice and improve your rescue skills and knowledge. Once the class and pool requirements are satisfied we go to an ocean site for final certification with a minimum of three rescue scenarios for the Scuba Rescue Course, and a minimum of five rescue scenarios for the Advanced Scuba Rescue Course.
